It is Merigar’s great honor to host His Eminence the Ninth Khamtrul Rinpoche and His Eminence the Third Drubwang Tsoknyi Rinpoche who will teach the renowned master Tilopa’s famous Mahamudra Upadesha the Gangama from April 22 to 26, 2015.

Two highly accomplished meditators and yogins of the famed Drukpa Kagyu yogic tradition, Tokden Achoe and Tokden Tutop Nyima will lead the practice sessions.

Turning the Wheel of Dharma for the first time in the West on his tour of Europe, H.E. Khamtrul Rinpoche, will teach during each morning session, and H.E. Tsoknyi Rinpoche will further clarify the morning teachings during the afternoon sessions.

On Sunday, April 26th, H.E. Khamtrul Rinpoche will bestow the Tara Initiation.

We invite all interested in spirituality, whether novices or advanced practitioners of Dharma to benefit from this precious opportunity to receive these rare teachings from accomplished and realized Masters and Yogins.

His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa Shedrub Nyima, the 9th Khamtrul Rinpoche, was born in 1982 in Assam, India, and belongs to an illustrious lineage of great and enlightened masters. Recognized by His Holiness the Sixteenth Karmapa and H.E. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, he is the supreme head of Khampagar Monastery in Kham, overseeing more than two hundred monasteries and nunneries in Eastern Tibet, as well as holding his present seat in exile at the Tashi Jong Tibetan Community in the province of Himachal Pradesh, India, where the tradition of Tokdens, or realized yogins, continues to this day. He received intensive training and the complete transmission of the Drukpa Kagyu lineage from his main teachers H.E. Dorzong Rinpoche and Kyabgon Adeu Rinpoche, and many teachings and empowerments from Kyabgon Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and Kyabgon Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche. In his visits to Korea, Taiwan, and South Asia his outstanding presence and the peace and compassion he transmits has attracted a great number of followers.

His Eminence the Third Drubwang Tsoknyi Rinpoche has been teaching students worldwide for over twenty-one years about the innermost nature of mind in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and has acquired great fame for his illuminating yet lighthearted style that appeals to both Western and Eastern practitioners, beginners and advanced practitioners alike. He is truly a bridge between ancient wisdom and the modern mind. His fresh insights into the Western psyche have enabled him to teach and write in a way that touches our most profound awareness, using metaphors, stories, and images that point directly to our everyday experience. He is widely recognized as a brilliant meditation teacher, is the author of three books, Open Heart Open Mind,Carefree Dignity, and Fearless Simplicity, and has a keen interest in the ongoing dialogue between Western research, especially neuroscience, and Buddhist practitioners and scholars. Rinpoche’s activity greatly contributes to the preservation of the Buddha Dharma in the East, while nurturing its growth in the West. His personal warmth and compassionate attention greatly enrich and enliven the depth of our learning experience.

Tokden Chökyi Lodrö (Achoe) was born in 1932 in Tibet and entered Khampagar Monastery in Tibet at the age of ten. He studied under H.E. the Eighth Khamtrul Rinpoche and lived in retreat for numerous years. In 1986 he was appointed as personal attendant to the young Ninth Khamtrul Rinpoche, travelling with him on pilgrimages to many holy Buddhist sites as well as throughout the world.

Tokden Tutop Nyima entered the Tashi Jong Khampagar Monastery at the age of nine. After studying at length with H.E. Dorzong Rinpoche and the H.E. the Eighth Khamtrul Rinpoche, he did many intensive meditation practice retreats, once remaining totally secluded for sixteen years. In 2007 H.E. Khamtrul Rinpoche bestowed on him entrance in the select group of Tokdens (realized yogins) for which the Drukpa Kagyu lineage is famous. He is now Vajra Master of all the grand ceremonies at the Khampagar Monastery. Since 2010 he has travelled extensively throughout the world with H.E. the Ninth Khamtrul Rinpoche.
