Rigpai Khujug 覺性杜鵑

Cuckoos come to Tibet in the interval between spring and summer heralding the summer season. Rigpai Khujug has been referred to as cuckoo of awareness. The Rigpai Khujug, discovered in the 10th century at the famous library in the caves of Dun Huang in Central Asia, is the first Dzogchen text translated by Vairocana and may be cited as one of the earliest Dzogchen texts from Tibet.

杜鵑鳥在春夏交替之際來到西藏,預告夏天的來臨。Rigpa Khujug 便隱喻覺知之杜鵑。《覺性杜鵑》十世紀時發現於中亞的敦煌石窟著名之圖書館,是毗盧遮那翻譯的第一部文本,也可能是被引用的最早的西藏大圓滿文本之一。

(新加坡仁欽出版社)《大圓滿》(Dzogchen: The Self-perfected State)第二部係根據毗盧遮那為《六句金剛偈》(Six Vajra Verses)所作的序文《覺性杜鵑》(Cuckoo of the State of Presence),而《六句金剛偈》則為噶拉多傑所傳,表述了大圓滿的基道果的核心內容:

六句金剛偈

萬物本體雖無二
遠離瑣碎之戲論
真象如是不可思
乃是普明普賢佛
應斷造作之弊病
自然安住便是定


The Six Vajra Verses

The nature of phenomena is nondual,
but each one, in its own state, is beyond the limits of the mind.
There is no concept that can define the condition of "what is"
but vision nevertheless manifests: all is good.
Everything has already been accomplished, and so, having overcome the sickness of effort,
One finds oneself in the self-perfected state: this is contemplation.

按照這份南開師的書,第四句不應翻成普賢佛,只是 all-good。

萬物本體雖無二
遠離瑣碎之戲論
真象如是不可思
乃是普明普賢佛
應斷造作之弊病
自然安住便是定

以上文本 p. 29 倒數第九行:

「袞都桑」(Gundusan)通常指普賢王如來——法身佛,這裡不是佛名。「袞都桑」意指「普賢」(all-good),沒有什麼要逃離的,亦沒有東西不具其價值。

Nacog ranxin miiizs yan;

Even though the nature of diversity is non-dual,
In terms of individual things, it is free of conceptual
elaborations (made by mind).

Jrxinva xes midog yan;
Nambar ncinzcid gundusdn.
Even though there is no thought of
what is called 'just as it is,'
These various appearances which are created are
ultimately good (transcending relative good and evil).

Si'nbas zolvai nad bande;
Lhungis nasbas xagba yin.
Since everything is complete in itself,
abandoning the illness of efforts,
One remains effortlessly with presence in
the state of Contemplation.
